Illinois Central College Culinary Arts and
Restaurant Management Program

The award winning Illinois Central College9s
(ICC) Culinary Arts program gives students the
opportunities and experience needed to work
in the culinary industry. During our tour, we
will learn how the kitchen and cafeteria of the
former Zeller Mental Health Center (circa 1949),
has been transformed into two commercial
teaching kitchens and a professional teaching
bake shop which serves numerous culinarians
pursuing their dreams of one day becoming
chefs of Central Illinois and beyond. We9ll have
the opportunity to check out the facility and
equipment, and learn how their culinary arts
associate9s degree is preparing students for
careers in the hospitality industry.

Caterpillar9s Track-Type Tractor Assembly
Wednesday, November 19

Caterpillar9s Track-Type Tractor Assembly facility
has streamlined factory operations with 昀exible
manufacturing systems and other computerbased technology and processes. From the
versatile D6 to the rugged D11 Carrydozer, all of
Caterpillar9s tracktype tractors are engineered for
tough working conditions. Join us for a behindthe-scenes look at how Caterpillar9s medium and
large track-type tractors are assembled, tested,
and painted.
$35 3 includes lunch at a local restaurant,

Able to participate in extended walking and
standing beyond normal trip expectations, may
include hiking on hills and slippery surfaces, plus
all Level 1, 2, and 3 requirements.
Hiking Rocky Glen
Monday, September 8
8:45 a.m. 3 2:00 p.m.
A unique and historic geologic area along Kickapoo
Creek in West Peoria will be our destination as
we enjoy a guided hike of Rocky Glen. Our host,
David Pittman, president of the Friends of Rocky
Glen, will lead us through this beautiful 125-acre
natural area that features a 昀ourishing plant
community and a hidden canyon scoured out of
the bedrock. David will also describe the dedicated
efforts of the Friends of Rocky Glen, a nonpro昀t
organization whose volunteers are working to
protect this unique area. Because special attire is
recommended for this hike, your trip itinerary will
include a list of suggested clothing options. Please
note that this trip will require two hours of hiking
in very steep terrain, and participants must meet
Level 4 activity requirements in order to take part
in this learning adventure.

Illinois State University Farm
Friday, October 3
8:30 a.m. 3 1:30 p.m.
We are visiting the Illinois State University Farm,
where we9ll explore all aspects of this historic
teaching and research facility. Discover how the
farm manages its diverse crops, livestock, and
composting operations while learning about the
unique history and impact of ISU9s Department
of Agriculture. This hands-on visit offers a behindthe-scenes look at sustainable farming practices
and agricultural innovation in action.
