Birding 101

Take a deep dive into birding with the naturalists
of Wildlife Prairie Park! They will lead you through
an in-depth presentation on some of the key
characteristics needed to start identifying birds in
central Illinois. In addition, participants will also
learn some of the best times and places for local
birding, how to report sightings to be used in
scienti昀c research, and a quick guide to the optics
needed for birding. Following the presentation,
we will take a birding trip around the park. Donuts
and Wildlife Prairie9s signature Bison Blend coffee
will be provided.

Behind the Badge: U.S. Marshals Service

U.S. Marshal Brent Cranford will give us a behindthe-scenes look at the multifaceted work of the
U.S. Marshals Service4the nation9s oldest and
most versatile federal law enforcement agency.
Though relatively small in size, they play a vital role
in our justice system. Their responsibilities include
securing federal court facilities and protecting
judges and court personnel, apprehending
fugitives, overseeing the custody and transport of
federal prisoners, executing federal court orders,
and managing assets seized through illegal
activity. They also ensure the safety of endangered
government witnesses and handle the collection
and distribution of court-ordered funds. It9s sure
to be an eye-opening discussion about the scope
and impact of this essential agency.

Unwanted, the war came to them. Mark Rein
shares his story of leading three teams of American
volunteers who traveled to Ukraine in May 2025.
He will discuss how specialists in dentistry,
mental health, and construction came together
to provide care, compassion, and hope and to let
the Ukrainians know they have not been forgotten
during their nearly four-year war with Russia.
