Learn how clean, reliable drinking water
reaches homes and businesses throughout
the community during a private tour of Illinois
American Water Company. At the treatment plant
just north of the McCluggage Bridge, we’ll explore
the company’s water production and distribution
methods while learning how water is treated,
tested, and prepared for everyday use. Our visit
will also include a look at laboratory equipment,
historical architecture, and a museum housed
within the facility’s 119-year-old red sandstone
pumping station. The museum features displays,
instruments, and a replica of an early laboratory,
offering a fascinating glimpse into the history and
evolution of water treatment in Central Illinois.

this special visit, we’ll experience America 250,
an ambitious exhibition celebrating the United
States’ semiquincentennial. Zac Zetterberg, the
museum’s Curator of Art and Exhibitions, will
lead a private guided gallery tour highlighting
rare documents, founding artifacts, and historical
treasures that offer a deeper look at the people,
events, and ideas that have shaped the nation
over the past two and a half centuries. Following
the guided tour, members will have time to
explore additional museum galleries and exhibits
at their own pace, including selections from the
museum’s art, science, history, and achievement
collections. This exclusive experience provides a
meaningful opportunity to reflect on America’s
history while discovering more of the museum’s
diverse offerings.

Midwest Food Bank (Peoria Location)

Learn how food donations are transformed into
meaningful support for families and nonprofit
organizations throughout the region during a visit
to Midwest Food Bank’s Peoria location. Founded
in 2003, Midwest Food Bank is a faith-based
nonprofit organization that distributes food and
disaster-relief supplies through a growing network
of locations in the United States and abroad.
During our guided tour, we’ll explore the Peoria
facility and learn how donated food is received,
sorted, stored, and distributed to community
partners. We’ll also hear how volunteers play an
essential role in helping the organization serve
individuals and families facing food insecurity. This
behind-the-scenes experience offers an inspiring
look at the logistics, partnerships, and generosity
that make Midwest Food Bank’s work possible.

WEEK-TV Studio
Thursday, October 8
9:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
On this trip, we’ll take a private one-hour tour of
the WEEK-TV studio in East Peoria, which has been
remodeled (all while remaining in production).
We’ll view editing bays and the control room, and
have an opportunity to see reporters and anchors
at work. In addition, our tour will include a peek
behind the scenes to view the midday news
broadcast and a question-and-answer session to
learn more about the station. Depending on the
broadcast schedule, we may also have a chance to
talk with the midday anchors.
