WHAT IS MEET US AT THE MOVIES?
Before each OLLI at the Movies screening, members are invited to
arrive about 30 minutes early for Meet Us at the Movies.
This casual gathering gives you time to grab popcorn or snacks from concessions, chat with other OLLI
members, and maybe even learn more about OLLI before the pre-film discussion and screening begins.
Everyone is welcome; just come early and join the conversation.
Transportation not provided, meet us there.
All films $5 – Includes admission and moderated
discussion prior to the start of screening.

How Green Was My Valley
Thursday, September 17

Set in a Welsh mining village, How Green Was My
Valley follows the Morgan family as they navigate
work, family, faith, and social change.
The film explores the human cost of economic
transformation — not just in terms of labor, but
also family, identity, and community. Experience
the awesome cinematography of John Ford’s film
on the big screen Prior to the film Tim Burns will
share his insights on this 1941 Best Picture Winner.

Patton offers a dramatic portrait of General
George S. Patton, one of the most complex
and controversial military leaders of World War
II. Anchored by George C. Scott’s Academy
Award-winning performance, the film examines
leadership, ambition, discipline, and legacy. Gary
Nelson, is one of the facilitators in the study group
on movies about WWII this fall, and hear his
remarks before the screening.

Miracle on 34th Street

A holiday classic, Miracle on 34th Street tells the
story of a department store Santa who claims
to be the real Kris Kringle and the people whose
lives are changed by his kindness and conviction.
Blending warmth, humor, and a little courtroom
drama, the film explores belief, generosity, and the
spirit of the season. Denise Hocker, one of OLLI’s
favorite film buffs, will get us in the mood for this
holiday classic before the show by sharing some
history and insights.

follows three office employees
who team up to take control
after growing tired of their sexist, egotistical
boss. Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly
Parton, 9 to 5 mixes humor with a pointed look
at workplace culture, gender expectations,
and the changing role of women in the
workforce. Presented as part of OLLI's Dallinger
series, A Celebration of Women's Voices and
Empowerment, this beloved classic explores issues
that continue to resonate today. Laurie Bailey will
provide a brief introduction highlighting the film's
connection to the series theme.
