Hockey: History, Rules, and
the Peoria Connection
Whether you're new to hockey or a longtime fan
looking to deepen your understanding of the
game, this class will provide an inside look at one
of the world's fastest sports. Explore the history
of hockey, the evolution of equipment, and the
development of the modern game. Learn the
basic rules and strategies that will make watching
hockey more enjoyable, along with lesser-known
aspects of the sport that many fans never fully
understand. Drawing on decades of coaching,
leadership, and involvement in Illinois hockey,
instructor Brad Windsor will share insights into
player development, game strategy, and the
growth of hockey in Central Illinois. The class will
feature on-site demonstrations, discussions of
major rules and regulations, and guest speakers
including Bart Rogers, owner of the Peoria
Rivermen, and Guy Trudel, Rivermen Head Coach.
Participants will also receive a group ticket to
a Rivermen game, where questions can be
discussed and answered during live game action.
$30 – Class instructor is Brad Windsor, a Level 4
USA Hockey Certified Coach, longtime leader in
Illinois amateur hockey, and past president of the
Central Illinois High School Hockey Association.
