18. Nature Connections at United Presbyterian
Church

Children now spend less time outside exploring
nature, resulting in vision problems, attention
disorders, and childhood obesity. When Randy
Saxon co-founded the United Presbyterian
Church (UPC), a site plan was created for the
UPC campus to encourage the congregation and
community to be with nature. Now a certi昀ed
Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, this space
serves UPC Discovery Early Learning Center, adults
in the neighborhood, and grades schoolers at
Northmoor School. During our visit, we9ll view
The Walk with Randy video 昀lmed shortly before
his death, and Judy Harris Helm, UPC Nature
Connections Committee chair, will discuss the
effects of nature and your brain.
$35 3 includes guided tour, a catered lunch at UPC,
gratuities, and shuttle transportation
Instructor of the year, and his staff will provide
an in-depth look at the Peoria Fire Department,
demonstrate the equipment used by 昀re昀ghters
(including 昀re gear and breathing apparatus),
lead a walk-through of the facility’s 昀ve story
burn tower (walking to the top will be optional),
oversee a vehicle extrication practice (depending
on staff availability), and give willing participants
a chance to put out a 昀re on their own in a
controlled burn environment.
$35 3 includes guided tour, lunch at a
local restaurant, wine tasting, and shuttle
transportation.
Activity Level 4
Be able to participate in extended walking and
standing beyond normal trip expectations, may
include hiking on hills and slippery surfaces, plus
all Level 1, 2, and 3 requirements.

Anniversary of CAT

Step back in time as we tour Wheels
O9 Time, a six building interactive
museum on a lovely campus in Dunlap. We9ll
enjoy a private, guided tour of this eclectic
collection of antique autos and Caterpillar
machinery. We will have an opportunity to see
a charming steel home that was the brainchild
of industrial inventor and Peorian Robert G.
LeTourneau. A highlight of the tour will be the
2025 exhibit in honor of the 100th Anniversary of
Caterpillar. It includes several vintage Caterpillar
tractors, machines and memorabilia, a military
display with a suspended L-16 reconnaissance
plane, the stunningly restored 1931 Ahrens Fox Fire
Truck, a giant LEGO® display (
