What if It Is Not True?
Thursday, April 16
12:00 – 1:15 p.m.
Garrett Cultural Center, Bradley University, Peoria
Join John Amdall, a longtime OLLI instructor,
for an engaging exploration of the complex and
often misunderstood world of conspiracy theories.
What exactly is a conspiracy theory? Why do some
people find them so compelling? And how can we
recognize and avoid them? We’ll also“peek behind
the curtain” to examine the psychology and appeal
behind conspiracy thinking, all while steering clear
of controversial subject matter. Along the way, a
few lighthearted and entertaining examples will
help illustrate key ideas. The goal is not to persuade,
but to understand why conspiracy theories persist
and how critical thinking can help us navigate an
information-rich world more thoughtfully.
$15 – includes presentation and snacks.
