Wednesday, March 25 | 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, we’ll
view the film adaptation of the Broadway
musical that brings the founding moment
to life, following John Adams and Benjamin
Franklin as they press Thomas Jefferson to draft
the Declaration of Independence amid political
deadlock and dire war news. Tim Bailey, a
frequent OLLI instructor, will introduce the film
with brief reflections on its major themes.
Sunday Best, the Untold Story of Ed Sullivan
Friday, April 17 | 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
The Ed Sullivan Show made stars of artists like
Elvis and The Beatles while quietly challenging
Jim Crow–era segregation through radical
integration. Sunday Best revisits this legacy
with rare performances from legends including
Stevie Wonder, James Brown, and The
Supremes. Frequent OLLI study group facilitator
Rob Parks will offer insights before the
screening and guide a short post-film reflection.
Brokeback Mountain
Friday, May 1 | 12:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Exploring love, loneliness, and repression,
Brokeback Mountain evokes strong emotions
and features acclaimed performances by
Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, making it
a significant and impactful film. Join longtime
film enthusiasts Roger French and Becky
Carlson as they share opening remarks and a
post-film reflection of the movie.
Participants will purchase their own drinks
and snacks. Each event will be hosted by OLLI
volunteers and a Bradley staffer. We have reserved
a few tables at area restaurants so we can mix and
mingle OLLI-style. Registration is required, but if
you’d like to bring a friend who is new to OLLI, just
call the office and let us know so we can add them
to the count.
These events are considered "on your own" and
give current OLLI members and those that may be
interested in learning more about OLLI the chance
to get together, socialize, and exchange ideas and
tips on all things OLLI and beyond.
