Southeast Asia will share their

personal stories. H. Wayne
Wilson, trained as an intelligence
specialist, spent his tour in Laos monitoring
radio traffic and dodging mortar rounds.
Coke Mattingly, a military policeman, went
undercover to interdict the flow of drugs
affecting U.S. forces. Terry Kohlbuss, an infantry
squad leader, experienced firsthand President
Nixon’s plan to “Vietnamize” the war. John
McCabe was awarded the Purple Heart for
wounds received while fighting along the
Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Each week, one
veteran will recount his experiences, offering
ground-level insights into how they came to
serve in the Army, their training, and what it
was like to put their lives on the line in a war
that was increasingly unpopular at home. They
will also share their reflections on their service
as very young men and how those experiences
shape their feelings today.
