OLLI at the Theatre: Bright Star
Thursday, March 12
5:00 – 11:00 p.m.
Join OLLI for a performance of Bright Star, a
musical at Peoria Players community theater.
Inspired by a true story and featuring the Tonynominated score by Steve Martin and Edie
Brickell, Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love
and redemption set against the rich backdrop of
the American South in 1945-46 with flashbacks to
1923. We’ll have the chance to meet with Madison
Motyl, the play’s director, as she shares insights
after the show and gives a short behind-thescenes tour. We'll also meet with Brayn Blanks,
Peoria Players board member and frequent
director of local theatre programs.
$65 – includes tickets to play, talk with the director,
dinner at a local restaurant, gratuities, and shuttle
transportation.
Seats available: 28
Peoria Sculptures and Monuments
Thursday, March 26 OR
Tuesday, April 7
10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
In honor of the late Jim Ludwig, who originally
designed this one-of-a-kind experience, OLLI
volunteers Bernie Drake and John Amdall will
serve as our guides. Ranging from Lydia Moss
Bradley to Mother Teresa, from religious figures to
a famous agnostic, from silly to serious, we will see
a surprisingly rich and varied collection of public
sculpture in plain sight but that we don’t really
notice. We’ll drive by dozens, stop at a few, and
hear some history and anecdotes about treasures
of the community.
$40 – includes guided tour, lunch at a local
restaurant, gratuities, and shuttle transportation.
Seats available: 13
