to enter/exit the shuttle with minimal assistance,
climb some stairs, and walk a few blocks indoors
or out.
Islamic Foundation of Illinois
Friday, January 9
10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The Islamic Foundation of Peoria (IFP), established
in 2000, serves the religious needs of the growing
Muslim community in the Peoria and Dunlap areas.
We will join their Imam (Imam Mazhar), Mr. Faraz,
President of IFP, and Dr. Amanullah, a member of
the foundation, for a tour of the facility and learn
how the foundation helps the Muslim community
ful昀椀ll its religious, social, and educational needs and
duties. We’ll also learn about the basic ideas of the
Islamic faith and its daily calls to prayer. In addition,
we will attend the weekly sermon and the Friday
prayers with the worshipers. Please note: modest
attire is suggested (long pants, long-sleeved shirts),
and we will remove our shoes before entering the
prayer hall, where men and women pray separately.
$35 – includes guided tour, lunch at a local
restaurant, gratuities, and shuttle transportation.

River Kitty Cafe and
Peoria County Animal Protection
Services(PCAPS)
Tuesday, January 27
9:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Spend a heartwarming day exploring the love
and care that our community provides for our
furry friends. Start your morning at the River
Kitty Cafe, Peoria's 昀椀rst full-time cat cafe, where
coffee, cats, and companionship combine in a
cozy atmosphere. We will learn more about how
this cafe fosters cats and increases adoptions from
Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS).
In the afternoon, we will head to PCAPS for an
exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the animal
shelter and animal control operations. Learn from
the PCAPS Director about local animal control
laws, day-to-day activities at the shelter, and how
you can get involved in helping abandoned or
neglected animals in our community. Discover
the vital role PCAPS plays in animal welfare and
explore opportunities to make a difference.
$40 – includes guided tour, lunch at a local
restaurant, gratuities, and shuttle transportation.

OLLI members boarded a "hayrack" ride during
the learning trip to Wildlife Prairie Park on the
importance of keystone species.
Behind the Scenes at Tadoughs:
A Sweet Learning Tour
Thursday, February 12
8:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Join us for a delicious experience at Tadoughs! On
this sweet tour, we’ll hear the story of how Rick
Butler and his daughter Jacqueline purchased
Pekin’s beloved Spudnut Donuts, the famous
potato-based donuts made in Pekin for over 40
years. We’ll learn about the new store in Peoria,
why they transitioned to the Tadoughs name, and
where they are headed in the future. We’ll also
have the opportunity to step behind the counter
for an exclusive kitchen tour to see 昀椀rsthand how
the donuts are made and discover what sets their
process apart from the competition.
